The Solution
The heart of the Cos APFC is a microprocessor based controller which on a continuous real time basis senses the quantum of powerfactor shortfall and selects the right capacitor bank to provide the precise value of correction required at each point of time through a series of high performance contactors. A capacitor bank consists of a single or group of capacitors of different values required for varying degrees of power factor correction.
We use world class capacitors of advanced Technology which are specially designed for reliable operation in this very demanding application. Typically the state of the art microprocessor based controller described earlier can control up to 6 to 12 stages of capacitors of various values to achieve precise power factor compensation.
The PFC has a user friendly display which indicates various load details in addition to power factor like current, voltage and other parameters. The system has all the various safety, alarm and trip functions necessary for safe operation. Cos APFC units also have short circuit protection through MCCBs and fuses. Cos APFC systems are available from 15 KVAR to 300 KVAR ratings in various configurations for different applications.
